 “Why are you doing this?,” our friends and family asked. A straightforward question with a multitude of answers, both simple and complex. Maybe we are doing this because we thought it would be fun and a good challenge. Maybe it’s because with all of Chessie’s audiological expertise it seemed a shame not to share that with the world. Maybe it’s because we wanted to have a crack at an industry that to us seems ripe for disruption with its preferred supplier deals and limited product offerings.

 When you look at it, it is tiny, it runs on a tiny battery and in all intense and purposes it is pretty much a glorified amplifier….or is it?
 We’ve been asked how we will fare in a climate where conglomerates and chains dominate the market. Our stance is that, as long as our values are at the heart of a patient centered approach and there are still hearing impaired people out there needing help, our job is not done.
 As we move towards mass volume uptake, price wars, glitzy marketing, bright lights and hearing aid demos in every Audiologist’s drawer – I can’t help but wonder if hearing care is turning into a commodity.
 Steve Rogers aka ‘Captain America’ would be 101 years old this year. Born on the 4th of July, 1918, if it wasn’t for his cryogenic past his inner hair cells would have most certainly curled over and called it quits.
